funny grade one

i was correcting the spelling tests this morning and the last word was 'chat'. Normally we only do three letter words, but most of the kids got it right. One student didn't quite spell it right and really, it made my day. The spelling was 'shat'. So after a good giggle, i showed brianne and we both had a good giggle. Funny kids i tell ya.

coldness

i think i'm more of a wimp this year compared to other years. The thought of driving through icy, snowy, cold streets makes me stay home and it hasn't as much before. Oh well, i have lots to do at home.
i thought the roads might be bad this morning but they weren't too horrible and the highway is mostly clear, only some blowing snow. So, really right now i'm happy i'm not working in the city. Anyway, on my way out, i heard my first Christmas song on the radio...and it was Bony M! OH horray! haha...i don't think brianne thought it was so amazing when i told her. But i definitely turned it waay up and danced while driving...oh happy morn.
The grade ones also were pretty well behaved today which was nice. Their scheule has been messed with and we have choir every morning now 4 days a week and the other it's just me and them for the first 1/2 hour. We've done well so far. : )

Free you say?

Wow...i am definitely mennonite. Today at school, i heard they were offering the flu shot to staff....for free. I hadn't really planned on getting one because it didn't sound as though they are all that effective. I think i mainly got it because my mom always tells me i need it(even though i can't remember the last flu i had) and really i don't want to hear about it. But i didn't plan on paying for it. haha...so now here i sit with a sore arm thinking man what a dumb shot. If anything i'd go for the pnuemonia shot seeing as how frequently i get that. oh well.

I think a nap may be in order. I haven't slept well in 3 nights. Anyone have any ideas about how to get sleep? Other then a large mallet to hit myself on the head...although...

Fabulous Weekend

So, due to the fact that kids are never in school and to the fact that i desperately needed to get away from the city and stresses here, i took off for the huge metropolis of Maple Creek. Due to the crazy snow fall and such in the city here i had really psyched myself out about the road conditions, but after Delisle, the roads were totally dry!
I had a very restful and wonderful time with my 'other family' haha. We went to the even bigger metropolis of Medicine Hat and did some serious shopping(bank cards are still smoking i'm sure) although it took us a little while to figure out why at 1245 the mall was just starting to open....ahhh yes, time change.

On Sunday, we went to church and it was good to meet the church family who have been so caring for shanny. We also took a hiking trip to Cypress Hills....though, there wasn't a whole lot of hiking done in the end. We ended up following a sign that said "Bald Butte"...it sounded exciting. Well, it really wasn't! BUT! The lookout point we found was Absolutely amazing and beautiful. It's 1275f above sea level, over a valley of rolling hills. Definitely worth the trip...well that and watching shannon trying to catch deer. hehe.

Quote of the day

Our class was sitting ready to listen to a story from the libraian today. The book was called, The BaaBaaShop Quartet. The libraian asked the kids if they knew what a quartet was to which 1 grade one answered, "Is it a type of cow?" man, grade one is a riot.

In need of TLC

for the love.

So, after some brilliant university girl dinged my car in the mall parking lot, and begging the guy at the garage to fight with SGI not to write off my car, i took it to get fixed. After being told it would take two days, i left with the courtesy car. ('98 cavalier) Man, did i miss my car starter....especially since it took 9 days instead of 2. Yesterday i finally got the call it was ready...oh good...wait...what? you want me to bring $700??? but i thought the other person reported....no? WHAT? SGI still hasn't sent out a letter telling the idiot to report??? Seriously? well poo...fine, credit alright. I do however get the $700 back after 30 days of the accident-BUT STILL!!
Last Night was FUN NITE at our school, so i was there for hours helping out and taking pictures of our grade one kids. I was super tired when i got home and pretty much went to bed. This morning, i am driving to work thinking man alive, it's freezing...wait....what's this?? COLD AIR blowing? hmmm....odd....wait why is the temp. gauge on H?? For the love indeed....so i drive back to the shop(yes indeed, the one i picked up the car from just yesterday) and said HELP!!! I took the courtesy car back again-and left my car(which heats way better). Again i picked it up, complete with a new water pump and $191.88...sigh. Now, i'm just waiting to see if the credit card company calls to question why i spent $900 in 2 days.
Between trying to get ready for fun nite, and all the car business...mixed with family stuff, it has been a little too intense stress-wise.

There was a bright spot in my not so great day....we celebrated my bday at school today....that's right-it's in september. i was still super new when my actual one was and it seems as though they typically don't celebrate on the right day haha. so yay for something.
